We in the Mira Mesa, Scripps Ranch, and Penasquitos area have
a unique opportunity to assist a family in need – the Noel family.

The Noels are a family of five living in a two-bedroom, 1008 square foot home here in our neighborhood. Jose and Brenda are parents to three boys, ages 9 to 20, with moderate to severe physical and mental handicaps. The boys require special attention, constant in-home supervision, and receive special education. The father also has significant health issues that have adversely affected his ability to work. The mother is the primary caregiver to this family of five.

As you can imagine, it has become increasingly challenging to care for these boys in such small surroundings. Keep in mind that, unlike a typical family whose children leave home as they grow older, these boys will never be leaving home. However, through all the stress and difficulties, the parents remain loving, grateful, and uncomplaining.

We seek to lighten their burden and the place to start is to provide more living space. Currently, the parents have given up their master bedroom to the oldest son to accommodate his special needs and they have turned the living room into their bedroom. It became apparent to friends and neighbors that an additional bedroom and bathroom would help this family tremendously. The idea was presented to the Noel family and they gratefully accepted our offer to assist them.

HOW YOU CAN HELP!

It is our desire as friends of the Noel family to provide an additional bedroom and bathroom for the family. Conservative cost estimates for such a remodeling project are around $68,000.

We have completed a needs assessment and have received a generous offer to do the construction drawings for free. We plan on providing most of the labor for the project through neighbors and friends. The cost of materials and supplies has already been met through fund-raising in the community.

If you desire to provide labor and/or materials, or know of those who are, your assistance is most welcomed and needed.

The family is worthy of our help. With everyone’s involvement
and support this project can be accomplished.
